On Sunday we headed for the Luxembourg American National Cemetery, a beautiful burial place for more than 5,000 soldiers who died fighting for their country during World War II. After World War I 11 cemeteries were established in Europe for those who fought and lost their lives, after World War II another 14 cemeteries were established world wide, this does not include the burial sites at battle ground monuments. As I said in my first blog about the city, the area is prime real estate, and it remained so during the war. All of the soldiers buried in the cemetery lost their lives in the region around the city. Included in those buried in Luxembourg is General Patton.
